Fitness Products are Hot!

The American Heart Association just published research that for every $1 the average company spends on its work site wellness program, it receives an average net benefit of $3.40-$7.88. Preventable illnesses make up 70 percent of the United States' overall illness costs! Whoa!!! The fact that 50% of Americans live sedentary lifestyles(partially due to sitting at a desk most days) makes employees' risks higher for stress reactions, diabetes, hear disease, gallstones, high blood pressure, etc. Hopefully, employers will jump on the fitness trend and encourage and yes, promote wellness in the corporate atmosphere. Items such as water bottles, stress meters, pedometers, personal UV meters and more are all available in the promotional advertising forum. WE have journals that help track how much you eat, drink and exercise. Employers can help their employees be happier, healthier and have a better retention rate if they care about their employees. Perhaps you might even want to start a friendly competition between departments...who walked more in a week, month, etc. Keep it in mind. It can be fun and save money while building a team spirit of health and encouragement. Please let Wendy know if you need any guidance in starting a corporate wellness program. She is also a physical therapist!
